Newmarket's Randwick is set to release the most elegant boutique apartments yet

Cbus Property, one of Australia’s most awarded and trusted national developers, is set to release the next building in the project’s Figtree Pocket collection (Stage 1), aptly title Cambridge.

Designed by acclaimed architect Smart Design Studio, Cambridge is a boutique collection of only 18 apartments overlooking the Newmarket heritage grounds. Comprising a mix of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom residences over 3 levels, Cambridge sits near the historic Newmarket ‘Big Stable’, the precinct’s most iconic building which boasts 1500 sqm in open space that works in harmony with the site’s heritage and the new apartment buildings.

Established in the early 1860s, Newmarket has been a significant part of Randwick’s racing heritage since its inception. The Big Stable was built circa 1887 on the peaceful southern boundary of Figtree Pocket where it has housed thousands of racehorses over the last 130 years. Now it begins a new chapter as part of an exquisite precinct in Randwick’s most desirable new neighbourhood. The Stable will be dedicated to Council and available to the community for public use.

As the second release in Figtree Pocket, what sets Cambridge apart from its neighbouring Newmarket buildings is the unique design and boutique nature of the apartments. Tucked away in the quiet corner of Figtree Pocket, Smart Design Studio has given the building classical proportions to suit its historic context, with additional ceiling height to the entire top floor. Vertical white concrete blades are angled to capture views and control sun while having a honed finish that decorates the streamlined interiors with natural light.

Smart Design Studio’s generously proportioned interiors feature superbly tailored materials and detailing to create a timeless elegance. Kitchens – the heart of every Cambridge apartment – boast a strong geometry with vast stone island bench tops, bespoke joinery, expansive pantries and Italian appliances.

Adjoining living areas connect to magnificent gardens designed by Arcadia Landscape Architecture via oversized terraces and courtyards. Master bedrooms also open up to these remarkable green spaces, inspired by Newmarket’s grand old fig trees and wonderful 130-year-old established gardens.

Figtree Pocket’s “The Deck” is a communal outdoor entertainment space nestled under the impressive Figtree where residents can interact, relax, entertain and enjoy. It also connects residents to the surrounding landscape and the community’s new 5000 sqm central green spaces, gardens and existing mature trees.

Newmarket delivers a real sense of tranquillity and connection to history, perfectly positioned between the city and the beach. It’s just 6km from Sydney’s CBD – a short ride via the new Light Rail that is less than 800m from Cambridge’s door, while the world-renowned Coogee Beach is only 2km away.

Located close to the world-renowned horseracing venue, Royal Randwick Racecourse, Newmarket is also at the heart of Randwick’s education and health precincts, with excellent schools and universities, including the University of New South Wales (UNSW), the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and Sydney Institute of TAFE.

Randwick’s urban green spaces are legendary. Centennial Parklands’ three beautiful and historically significant parks cover 360 hectares, complete with waterways, cycle paths, horse trails and playing fields. It’s one of Sydney’s most family-friendly spaces and the ideal complement to Cambridge’s elegant apartment lifestyle.

Newmarket’s Cambridge building is set to launch in March 2018 with construction expected to be completed in mid-2020 along with the neighbouring Figtree Pocket buildings which are part of the Stage 1 release.
