With the anticipated arrival of Light Rail in 2020, Randwick will become an even more attractive place to live and work. It’s no wonder this health and education hub has caught the attention of homebuyers.

But with the completion of the CBD and South East Light Rail services in 2020, Randwick will become even better connected.
Here’s a closer look at what makes Randwick such a liveable (and desirable) suburb.
Commuting into the CBD – currently around 20 minutes on buses – will become even faster and easier with light rail services expected to run every four minutes in peak hour.
The building of the Randwick terminus will also “create a transport hub, providing better connections to bus stops, shops and services in Randwick town centre and nearby hospitals and medical clinic,” according to the Sydney Light Rail website.
Although its proximity to the city is a major draw, Randwick has everything residents need (and more) within walking distance.
The famous racecourse, Centennial Parklands and some of Sydney’s best-known beaches are on the doorstep. But there are also supermarkets, shopping centres, a producers’ market, a cinema, and restaurants and cafes galore.
In addition to a choice of good schools, Randwick has a cluster of hospitals, and the University of New South Wales, the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and Sydney Institute of TAFE are nearby.
It’s also a bike-friendly suburb. The council’s cycling and walking map shows on- and off-road routes, and there’s a ‘pedal park’ where children can ride their bikes safely.
As well as the anticipated growth from the Light Rail project, Randwick will benefit significantly from the $720m revamp of the Prince of Wales Hospital announced in the recent NSW budget.
With excellent existing infrastructure and major projects in the pipeline, it’s no wonder this health and education hub is attracting increasing interest among property buyers.
